This installation merges Arabic calligraphic design with digital and architectural modeling. Brushstrokes are transformed into 3D models, programmed through Touch Designer to create real-time movement and depth. You get to interact with the 3D model, much like shaping a flowing form, with distance calculations determining the dynamic visual characteristics of the model. Layered onto a translucent material, this creates a human-scale, large environmental illusion of the word Tafaseel floating and dancing in thin air. When encountered in person, the illusion is so intriguing, it is hard to believe it isn’t a physical object in front of you.
